Alhamdulillah for explaining clearly the need for returning to the noble Qur’an, the Sunnah and Sirah of the Prophet (s), as explained in your article on the “State of the Ummah” and in your book, The Seerah: A Power Perspective. For committed Muslims, the challenges and aims are the same: to stand together and face the collective might of foreign powers.

Muslims are at the lowest ebb today because we have failed to imbibe true Islamic values or allow our hearts to be illuminated by Islamic concepts. There are few leaders of the calibre of the first generation of Islam. The need for unity among Muslims is, therefore, critical since the Ummah faces the same challenges as those that confronted our beloved Prophet (s) when he migrated to Madinah.

Allah (SWT) tells us in the noble Qur’an, “But seek, with the wealth which Allah has bestowed on thee, the abode of the hereafter, nor forget your portion in this world, but do righteous deeds, as Allah has been good to thee, and seek not [occasions for] mischief in the land, for Allah loves not those who do mischief” (28:77).

Upon arrival in Madinah, the noble Messenger (s) granted the people the Covenant of Madinah. Described as the first written Constitution in the world, it granted rights to all the people residing in the city-state under the protection of the Islamic State.
